business opens in old printing buildings.
Stash's Auto Repair will be
opening in April in the former Paxton
Printing, Inc. building. Owner Felix Cardosa
has almost 30 years experience as a
mechanic.
Paxton water system receives ward.
Illinois Rural Water Association
chose Paxton's water system as its Water
System of the Year. Randy Haack,
superintendent of Paxton's water department
was selected as runner-up for Water Plan
Operator of the Year.

New
gaming class to be offered at PBL High
School. School Board
approved the new class designed to provide
more work-related instruction.
City authorizes building and installation of
bat houses. Alderman Dan Beppler
is constructing 15 bat houses that will be
placed in various areas around town to help
control mosquito population.

Raffle House closes. The business
offered a game similar to bingo. Local
resident Scott Stocking had voiced
objections to the business since it opened
last year
Paxton youth arrested. A
former PBL student was arrested by Paxton
Police in the PBL school parking lot for
trespassing and unlawful weapons charges,
for carrying a 4-inch fixed-blade knife. No
threat had been made with the knife. He had
also been arrested earlier this month for
breaking into a Paxton apartment.
Business changes hands.
Nick Fiorillo, local accountant, announced
he has sold his business, Fiorillo
&Associates, to former employee Jeff
Shaffer. Fiorillo will continue working with
the firm.

Dense fog & sleet cause problems.
Weather was a factor when a PBL school
bus collided with a pickup near Roberts on
Monday. Six children from the bus were take
to Gibson Area hospital where they were
examined and released.

Scout group gets BB guns.
Paxton's Pack 35 Cub Scouts received eight
new BB-guns and BBs by a donation from
Pheasants Forever and Big 'R' Store, Gibson
City. Similar guns are used at the Boy Scout
summer camp at Camp Drake.
