police arrested Paul Bigham on felony
charges alleging that cocaine and
prescription were for sale at his
home.
City Committee wants to repair streets.
Street & Alleys committee voted to repair
portions of Summer St and Taft St using
Motor Fuel Tax funds
School Board plans construction projects.
Roofs will be replaced at high
school and Clara Peterson Elementary school;
new storage facility for athletic equipment
is under construction; new security systems
are being installed at high school; the
School Board is also working on a plan to
reconfigure traffic and parking at Clara
Peterson Elementary School.

Long time businessman dies.
Glenn Miller of Paxton passed away March
11,2008. Mr. Miller owned Brown-Miller
Funeral Home, Brown-Miller Furniture Store
and was very active in the community in
organizations such as Masonic Lodge, Paxton
City Council, Paxton Carnegie Library, and
many others.
New
auto repair shop opens.
Mike Schwing has opened Schwing's Auto
Repair at the former Martin Auto Repair
location on US Rte 45 South. Schwing has
over 16 years experience as a mechanic.

Tin
Pan restaurant plans expansion.
Owners of the restaurant have purchased the
former Kaye building to the north and will
be remodeling it for a bar and additional
dining area. City of Paxton granted the
restaurant a Class C liquor license that
allows sale of any kind of alcohol for
consumption on the premises.
City Council supports PRIDE in Paxton.
The Council authorized payment of $3000 to
the group which promotes Paxton and
revitalization of the downtown. The Council
gave a similar amount last year.

New
football coach hired. Greg
Wood of Urbana has been hired as new head
football coach at PBL. He has been
offensive coordinator at Urbana High School
for past year and formerly head coach at
Forreston High School.
Flag disposal available.
American Legion Post 150 has placed a
container at their post building where area
residents can drop off worn flags. The
Legion will properly dispose of them.

Amoco has new operator. Dennis
Chawla of Champaign, also operates a station
in Mansfield. He is offering a number of
specials to celebrate the ownership change.
The gas station is located just west of
I-57.
