Agriculture is big business in Ford county and has some of the world's richest soils. Think about it. In 1997 Ford County produced:
 

  • 18,904,000 bushels of corn worth about $45,000,000
  • 6,375,000 bushels of soybeans worth about $36,656,000
  • 167,500 bushels of wheat worth about $519,000
  • Hay worth approximately $800,000
  • Approximately 60,000 hogs valued at $5,630,000
  • and nearly 4,800 cattle valued at $3,400,000
  • plus dairy products worth about $550,000

The total value of agricultural enterprise in Ford County exceeded $96,855,000 in 1997.

Ford County has 1685 farms which encompass more than 288,000 acres of cropland of which more than 140,000 acres are planted to corn and 138,000 acres are planted to soybeans.
