City Council approved a $75,000
loan from city's revolving loan fund to NCP
ENterprises, LLC. The business plans
to purchase a property at 131 S Railroad Ave
to expand the business and add approximately
5 additional employees.
New
walking bridge proposed for Center Street.
The proposal includes removing the two
existing walking bridges across Orleans and
Franklin Streets. The current Center St.
bridge is scheduled for demolition next
year. A new walking bridge would not be
constructed until 2010 at the earliest.

Paxton resident featured on CBS.
Tom Meents, 7 time Monster Truck World
Champion, was interviewed and featured on
CBS Sports Spectacular Monster Jam on
Sunday, April 27th.
Paxton Businessman dies.
Thomas Houston, owner of Houston Oil
Company, passed away Sat., April 26,
following a three week hospital stay. He had
been in the petroleum business for over 50
years.

Earthquake rattles area. A
5.2 magnitude earthquake hit southern
Illinois on Friday, April 18. The local area
experienced shaking, rattling, and rolling,
but no one was injured and no damage was
reported.
City Council supports canine program.
Police committee presented
recommendations to approve acquiring a
drug-sniffing dog to work with local police
officer Chad Johnson. The acquisition
is contingent upon funding.

City to sell parking lot to
Gibson Area Hospital for expansion of Paxton
Clinic. Plans include doubling the
size of the current clinic and adding
obstetrics and X-ray services and
combining its local therapy center.
ERS
asking for volunteers for building clean-up.
Volunteers are asked to be at the building
at 8 am on April 26 to help remove piles of
shingles, lumber and roofing materials.

second energy company has
expressed interest in building a wind farm
east of Paxton. E.On Climate & Renewables
and Stewardship Energy L.L.C. are both
talking to area landowners about the
projects.
Pack 35 Cub Scouts in Paxton
netted over $26,000 worth of popcorn sales
to purchase a new trailer, which will be
used at family camp-outs and other Scout
activities.

County Board repurchases old jail.
The Board had sold the property
a number of years ago for $1 with the right
to repurchase. $12500 was paid to one of the
owners and $25000 to another. The
Board plans to use the facility for
probation offices and meeting rooms.
Wind farm proposal. A wind
farm has been proposed to be built
approximately 2 miles east of Paxton along
IL Rte 9.
Paxton resident named police office of the
year in Rantoul. Justin
Bouse, a Rantoul police detective is a
resident of Paxton and an Alderman on the
Paxton City Council.
Paxton Record wins press award.
The Everyday Heroes section of the Paxton
Record won two Illinois Press Association
awards for 2007.
