City Council has hired a TIF
consultant. Atty. Dan Schuering of
Springfield has been contracted to recommend TIF
district boundaries for the city.
WeTona Houtzel has joined The
State Street Salon as a Licensed Massage
Therapist.
Martin's Auto Repair in Paxton
has closed. Owner John Martin has
taken a job with the University of Illinois.
Vacancies filled: Gary Van
Gordon has been appointed to fill Ward 3
seat on the Paxton City Council, replacing
Chris Johnson moved from the ward.
Liz Bowen and David Parker
have been appointed to the Paxton Park
District Board, replacing Becky Williams and
Rick Riblet, who both recently resigned.

DeMuth sisters plan book on Majestic
Theater. Donna and Pat
DeMuth, who have written three books about
growing up in Paxton, will be collecting
memories, photographs, and stories from the
public over the next six months to a year.
After it is published, they will donate 10%
of the profits to the Paxton Foundation.

Local woman hounded by media for comments
in Chicago area missing woman case.
Vicki Connolly was the second wife of Drew
Peterson of Bollingbrook, who's wife Stacey
has been missing for several weeks.
His third wife's body has been exhumed for
further examination of circumstances
surrounding her death.

Electrical problem may be
cause of theater fire, but investigation
is still pending.

football coach resigns. Jim
Zenner resigned after a 1-8 season. Zenner
had been an assistant coach under the late
former football coach Jerry Zimmerman.

Paxton Majestic Theater leveled by fire.
About 10:00 am city workers
discovered smoke coming out of the theater
as they were installing Christmas
decorations downtown. The fire completely
destroyed the historical theater building,
housing the theater, 3 apartments, and Past
& Future Bookstore. Also damaged was the
Paxton Senior Citizens Building. and Tin Pan
Restaurant. Firefighters from several area towns
assisted.

Market Street Barber Shop will re-open
November 17 at its original location.
The shop has been operating out of temporary
site for the last six months since a car was
driven into the building.

another historical touring brochure. This
time featuring city churches.
Lauren Heap of Paxton received
the Girl Scouts highest award, earned by
only six percent of Girl Scouts.

Paxton home to be featured in News-Gazette
publication. "At Home in
Central Illinois" will be featuring the
historic home of Charlotte and Ron Hampton,
located at 511 W Pells St., in the winter
2007 issue. The home is on the National
Register of Historic Places and is also
featured in PRIDE's Historic Home Walking
Tour.
Loda firefighter arrested for arson.
Steven Stout has admitted he set
fire to garage of ex-girlfriend. Police are
also investigating 14 other fires that have
occurred recently in Loda.
